Shepherd’s Heart is a biblically centered, clinically informed counseling ministry.
Shepherd’s Heart is seeking qualified contract counselors who offer comfort, hope, and healing to those who are struggling with spiritual, marital, emotional, or mental health issues.

Requirements:
Contract Counselors must meet one of the following requirements:
A pastor with at least 3 years of biblical counseling experience.
A pastor with an MDiv or equivalent, with a transcript showing significant biblical counseling coursework.
A counselor with a biblical counseling master’s degree or certificate.
A counselor with a secular degree and who has also completed accepted courses from ACBC, CCEF, IABC, ABC, or Shepherd’s Heart Board-approved biblical counseling training program prior to the contracted start date.
Other Requirements
Contract Counselors must be able to provide a copy of a liability insurance policy, which can be obtained after being accepted as a Shepherd’s Heart counselor but must be provided before you can begin work. Shepherd’s Heart can help guide you through the process of getting liability insurance if needed.
Contract Counselors must have your own computer, computer camera, smartphone, and strong internet connection for remote counseling.
Locations for In-person counseling can include Shepherd’s Heart provided office space, or other space can be used with approval from the Managing Director. Online counseling is acceptable and encouraged.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Schedule counseling sessions and maintain your own counseling calendar and database.
Determine counselees root beliefs and help them establish and believe a Biblical worldview.
Create effective treatment plans.
Work with your counselees to develop beneficial goals.
Note counselees’ session progress and change their treatment plan when needed.
Assign after-session work to the counselee as appropriate and hold them accountable for such work.
When appropriate, counselors can keep pastors, small group leaders, or other shepherds informed about the counseling process or even (with the counselee’s permission) inviting them to be part of the counseling sessions.
Encourage counselees to attend church weekly.
Encourage counselees to commit to regularly attending a small group.
Encourage counselees to serve in the church and/or community.
Help counselees to develop a regular practice of reflecting on Jesus and the Gospel in their everyday life.
Help counselees apply what they have learned in their counseling sessions to their relationships and service in the church.
